Created by a French surgeon in 1879, the first “wheeled” operation theater was designed by surgeon J-A Fontaine.
Since then, mobile theaters have been used in some special situations, during war by the military, and for emergency by humanitarian organizations.
But it is only since 1999 than mobile theater are part of the way to produce standard healthcare. With a modern design, and up to date technologies such as laminar flow, the English company Vanguard Healtcare Solutions is successfull in creating Mobile Operating Theaters which are up to the standards of the lastest built hospitals.
With 45 mobile modular units, Vanguard Healtcare has set up strong partnership with the National Health Service, and answer to the needs of English clincs and hospitals, before offering from 2010 its services to mainland Europe, with France as a key market.
